Whitney Road, Newton

This is the story of Derek and Brie, who had tragedy strike in 2007 while they were out of town. The live-in nanny was home when a fire broke out in the kitchen, destroying it and causing fire and smoke damage to much of the home. This is the story of their experience with Metropolitan Building Systems and in rebuilding their home after fire as well as taking the opportunity in tragedy to reinvent the entire home. Located in the suburban Whitney Road neighborhood of Newton, their brick colonial home was lovingly restored with a rear two story expansion by Metropolitan Building Systems. The whole interior of the home was eventually completely gutted and redone with new electrical service and HVAC systems. The roof was replaced with a high quality, durable, but cost effective imitation slate that was also more keeping with the appearance and style of the home.
“It was truly rewarding with this project to hand the keys back to Derek and Brie after this project was completed. Recovering after a fire is amazingly difficult, in this case it also allowed us to turn a negative into a positive by truly reinventing the home with some stunning work and major upgrades.”  – Paul Wilkes
